Basketball Recap: Mary Persons Falls Despite Big Games from Mimi Mccord and Zoey Shannon

Mary Persons was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the LaGrange Grangers. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Grangers earlier this season, when they won 58-40.

Zoey Shannon and MiMi McCord certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Shannon dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards, while McCord posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Shannon is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Alyssa Wright also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Mary Persons' loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for LaGrange, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-13.

Mary Persons didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-39 defeat against Jackson on the 18th. As for LaGrange, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-39 loss against Troup County on the 18th.
