Baseball Game Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Chisum Mustangs

Commerce is 1-7 against Chisum since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Rains hit Commerce with a five-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-0.

Commerce saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Markedon Mapps, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple. That triple was Mapps' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Chisum's offense. They lost 6-0 to Mount Vernon on Friday.

Commerce's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17-1. As for Chisum, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Commerce might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Chisum when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
