Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Heidi Zunker and Kenzie Hang Lead Dorman to Victory

Dorman not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since November 11, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past the James F. Byrnes Rebels 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cavaliers also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-19, 25-13.

Leading Dorman to victory were Kenzie Hang and Heidi Zunker. Hang had 12 digs and three aces, while Zunker had eight digs. Those eight digs gave Zunker a new career-high. Sydney Watt also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Despite the loss, James F. Byrnes still got an impressive performance from Aubree James, who had eight digs and two aces.

The win made it two in a row for Dorman and bumps their season record up to 6-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-2 Riverside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for James F. Byrnes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Dorman has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Lexington on the 5th. As for James F. Byrnes, they will square off against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
