Mounds dropped down to 10-14 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats by a score of 4-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in August.

As for Chouteau-Mazie, they pushed their record up to 23-8 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For Chouteau-Mazie's part, Rylee Detweiler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mounds will take on rival Wyandotte at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chouteau-Mazie is set to face off against their familiar foe Howe at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.6, the Lions 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
