Baseball Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies vs. Newark Catholic Green Wave

The Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies will head out on the road to face off against the Newark Catholic Green Wave at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Johnstown-Monroe is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Johnstown-Monroe couldn't beat Lexington on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Johnnies fell 9-4 to the Minutemen.

Landon Myers and Erik Marohl stepped up to the plate in a big way. Myers went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Marohl got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Newark Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Vernon on Wednesday and fell 6-5.

Newark Catholic's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4. As for Johnstown-Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Johnstown-Monroe suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Newark Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Johnnies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
