Basketball Recap: Smith Valley Falls Short of Eureka in the Playoffs

Smith Valley and Eureka squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Smith Valley had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 40-25 to the Eureka Vandals. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Vandals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Megan Johnson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards for Eureka. Another player making a difference was Natalie Gray, who posted eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Smith Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Eureka, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-2.

Smith Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eureka, they have already played their next game, a 35-5 victory against Round Mountain on the 21st.
