Baseball Recap: Tucker Comes Up Short

Tucker extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 8-17. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redan Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 back in March.

Blake Samuda made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Tucker's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-3 (and 2-14 when he doesn't). Bryson Poole also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Redan, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.

On Redan's side, Moxie McNealy made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McNealy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten matchups.

In other batting news, Redan got a massive performance out of Treylen Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was ADot Carter, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tucker will welcome North Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Redan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
