Baseball Recap: Fletcher Finds Home Field Redemption Against Varsity Opponent

There's no place like home for Fletcher, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Varsity Opponent an 8-0 shutout on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against Varsity Opponent two weeks ago, they had to take a 8-0 defeat.

Nathan Mahan made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mahan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Fletcher is 8-1 when Mahan posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rayce Stoll, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Fletcher's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-13 when he doesn't). Hayden Gaddis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Fletcher's victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Theydidn't rest on their laurels for long: they've already played their next match, a 12-6 beat against another Varsity Opponent.
