Baseball Recap: Bend Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bend had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Redmond Panthers with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Lava Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Lewis Knapp was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Quentin Romney was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since April 3rd. Cole Cooper was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redmond only posted an OBP of .250.

Bend's record now sits at 15-5. As for Redmond, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Bend will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
