Preview: Robertson Cardinals vs. Santa Fe Prep Blue Griffins
Robertson is 10-0 against Santa Fe Prep since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Robertson Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Santa Fe Prep Blue Griffins at 7:00 p.m. Robertson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,050 points over their last 15 matchups.
Last Wednesday, Robertson earned a 62-51 victory over Santa Fe Indian.
It was another big night for Mateo Contreras, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse James Gonzales, who scored eight points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Santa Fe Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The game between Santa Fe Prep and St. Michael's wasn't particularly close, with Santa Fe Prep falling 63-47. Santa Fe Prep has struggled against St. Michael's recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Robertson's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Santa Fe Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Robertson strolled past Santa Fe Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a score of 71-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Robertson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
