Baseball Game Preview: Slocomb Red Tops vs. Cottonwood Bears

The Slocomb Red Tops will take on the Cottonwood Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Slocomb is headed out to face Cottonwood after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Slocomb came out on top against Ashford by a score of 5-2 on Friday.

Wyatt Reeder made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reeder was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Reeder wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Langham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cottonwood had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past Houston Academy 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted against the Raiders since March 7, 2015.

Slocomb came up short against Cottonwood when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 8-3. Can Slocomb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
