Softball Recap: Anderson County Wins Going Away Against Scott

Anderson County's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Scott Highlanders with a sharp 10-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won eight in a row.

Addison Grooms tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reece Brock, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Alli McKamey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Anderson County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Anderson County's victory bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Scott, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Anderson County will welcome Cocke County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Cocks will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Scott, they will take on Gibbs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
