They were just one part of a punishing run game: Summit Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 91.8 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 174.3.
Summit Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kris King and Jacob Boykins. King has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Skyline, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Marlette by a score of 29-22 on Friday.
Summit Academy better keep an eye on Gideon Starkweather. He was instrumental in Skyline's win, rushing for 55 yards on only five carries, while also throwing for 77 yards and one touchdown on only six passes.
Summit Academy's record now sits at 7-1. As for Skyline, their record is now 2-6.
Everything went Summit Academy's way against Skyline in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Summit Academy made off with a 27-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
