Basketball Recap: Jaidyn Mcmullin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Milford over Grand County

Milford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to the Grand County Red Devils on the road by a 45-30 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 51-38 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Milford lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaidyn Mcmullin, who posted 13 points. That was a full 43.3% of Milford's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Acacia Dalton was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Grand County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tatum Packard, who put up seven points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gemma Phillips, who posted four points in addition to 13 boards, five steals, and five blocks.

Milford's record is now 2-7. As for Grand County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Milford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-30 win against Rockwell on the 20th. As for Grand County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-28 victory against Salt Lake Academy on the 20th.
