Softball Recap: Lake Stevens Comes Up Short

Lake Stevens's last matchup with Glacier Peak could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. Lake Stevens lost 11-4 to Glacier Peak. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lake Stevens got a good showing from Charli Pugmire, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Pugmire has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Alaina Emme made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Breckenridge, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

The defeat snapped Lake Stevens' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for Glacier Peak, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Coming up, Lake Stevens will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mariner at 4:00 p.m. As for Glacier Peak, they are taking a road trip to take on Kamiak at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Glacier Peak's pitchers better be ready for this one: Kamiak has averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
