Baseball Recap: Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Central had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Penquis Valley Patriots. The Red Devils' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.

Kohen Kennedy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Kennedy was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Caleb Munson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Wheeler, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Penquis Valley, their record is now 0-7. They have struggled against Central recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

On Penquis Valley's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Atkinson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Central and Penquis Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings. The Red Devils (ranked 96th) will meet Mattanawcook (ranked fifth) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Penquis Valley will face off against Dexter at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (112 vs. 26).
