Football Game Preview: St. Helena Saints vs. Upper Lake Cougars

The St. Helena Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Upper Lake Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Helena has nine straight victories, Upper Lake has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, St. Helena earned a 28-20 win over Willits.

Jhony Covarrubias was his usual excellent self, rushing for 111 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 124 yards on six of 15 attempts. Those 111 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Upper Lake took a blow against Kelseyville last Friday, falling 41-6.

Upper Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for St. Helena, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

St. Helena didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Upper Lake when the teams last played back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 32-28 win. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
