Volleyball Recap: Ripon Falls Short of Christian Brothers in the Playoffs

Ripon and Christian Brothers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Ripon had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

While Ripon ultimately came up short, they really made Christian Brothers work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 21-25, 15-8.

Adriana Dorn paced Ripon's offense, picking up 30 kills. Dorn got some help from Alayna Sprinkle and her 45 assists. Sprinkle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Christian Brothers' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Alvarez, who had 21 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Alvarez has posted since back in October. Another player making a difference was Paolo Trujillo, who had 24 assists and eight digs.

Ripon's loss dropped their record down to 28-5. As for Christian Brothers, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-14.

Ripon has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against St. Francis on the 11th. As for Christian Brothers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Milpitas on the 11th.
