Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Cornerstone Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Ferndale Wildcats by a score of 53-51 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since December 30, 2023.

Ferndale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddison Gossi out in front who posted 15 points. The dominant performance gave Gossi a new career-high in points. Tinnley Pidgeon was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cornerstone Christian moved to 20-10 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points over those games. As for Ferndale, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Cornerstone Christian nor Ferndale have any future games scheduled.
