Softball Recap: Bacon Academy Beats Griswold for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Bacon Academy entered their tilt with Griswold on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Wolverines. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in April.

Riley Stolzman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabrielle Russo, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alexa Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Bacon Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griswold struck out 12 times.

Bacon Academy's record now sits at 13-3. As for Griswold, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bacon Academy will take on Windham RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mighty Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Griswold, they will face off against Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of.
