Football Recap: Spearman Lynx vs. Anson Tigers

Spearman had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over the Anson Tigers on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lynx.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Hudson Swan and Jailen Vasquez. Swan gained 146 total yards and three touchdowns while Vasquez threw for 122 yards and four touchdowns. Vasquez also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Spearman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dallen Scroggs and Swan. Spearman got some further help from Landon Sonnenberg: he forced one fumble, made 15 total tackles, and defended two passes.

Spearman's record is now 8-4. As for Anson, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Spearman will square off against Cisco at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Anson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
