Recap: Vanguard Knights vs. Buchholz Bobcats
If the Vanguard Knights were riding high off their 58-12 takedown of the North Marion Colts last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Vanguard took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buchholz on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Vanguard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Buchholz is ranked 161st).
Despite the loss, Vanguard still got an impressive performance from Aniyah Hope, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Another player making a difference was Kenaria Dowdy, who scored two points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Buchholz's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tionna Wilkinson, who scored 14 points. Wilkinson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamison Cardwell, who scored ten points.
Vanguard's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Buchholz, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Vanguard won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Citrus at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th.
