Butler's loss ends six-game winning streak at home

Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. Charlotte Catholic Cougars

After flying high against the Rocky River Ravens last Friday, the Butler Bulldogs came back down to earth. Butler suffered a rough 58-36 defeat at the hands of Charlotte Catholic on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that Butler let down their fans at home.

Butler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlotte Hasson, who scored 12 points. Hasson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brianna Campbell, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Blanca Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds for Charlotte Catholic. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Harper Mckain was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.

Butler's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Charlotte Catholic, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Butler will take on Olympic at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Olympic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Butler is ranked 102nd). As for Charlotte Catholic, they will take on Shining Star Sports Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shining Star Sports Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
