Baseball Game Preview: Jerome Tigers vs. Skyview Hawks

The Jerome Tigers will take on the Skyview Hawks at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Jerome faced off against Columbia on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.

Jerome saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xaiden Van Tassell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Van Tassell is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Jace Stephenson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Skyview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Skyline on Thursday.

This is the second loss in a row for Jerome and nudges their season record down to 2-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Skyview, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Jerome was able to grind out a solid win over Skyview in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 7-3. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
