Basketball Recap: Rockridge Takes a Loss

Rockridge was the 59-28 winner over Mercer County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rockridge Rockets fell to the Mercer County Golden Eagles 53-47. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rockets came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 437th).

Rockridge's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Mercer County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-15.

Looking ahead, Rockridge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rock Island at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mercer County, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Camp Point Central at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Mercer County's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Camp Point Central has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
