It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hillcrest can now relate to. They lost to the Peoria Lions on the road by a 52-36 margin on Friday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2017.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from Erimus Wright, who rushed for 206 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Wright really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Cameron Williams was another key player, picking up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Hillcrest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaden Dilworth and Wright. Wright also punched in four rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Hillcrest is 5-2 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Another thorn in Peoria's side was Jordan Kenerson, who made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).

This is the second loss in a row for Hillcrest and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Peoria, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
