Baseball Recap: Franklin County Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Franklin County's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Jefferson County Tigers 16-1. Considering the Seahawks have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sadiq Jones was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Franklin County is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Colby Blackburn was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.

Jones wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Franklin County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Franklin County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Jefferson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Franklin County will square off against Destin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Franklin County is facing Destin at the right time seeing as Destin is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson County, they will challenge Aucilla Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
