Basketball Recap: Christian Hill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kings Mountain over Charlotte Catholic

Kings Mountain lost against Charlotte Catholic back in March of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mountaineers lost to the Cougars on the road by a 70-52 margin. The Mountaineers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Hill, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 19 points. KJ Bell was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Charlotte Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Kapsiak led the charge by going 8-for-10 en route to 19 points and eight boards. Thanks to that strong game, Kapsiak now owns an excellent 47.5% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Mack Jordan, who shot 75% from the field on his way to 18 points.

Kings Mountain now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Charlotte Catholic, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Kings Mountain will head out to take on Lake Norman Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mountaineers will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Charlotte Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against South Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will be up against the Sabres' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
