Basketball Game Preview: Rock Hill Bearcats vs. Spartanburg Vikings

The Rock Hill Bearcats are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Spartanburg Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Rock Hill's tournament run continued when they took on Westwood on Saturday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Redhawks by a score of 59-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.

Chloe Hudson went supernova, putting up 32 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Christian Dunbar, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Spartanburg posted their closest win since December 21, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Blacksburg 58-55.

Spartanburg's win came from a few key players Rock Hill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Azaria Sims, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. De'Asia Bridges was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds.

Rock Hill's record now sits at 2-0. As for Spartanburg, their record is now 3-0.

Rock Hill skirted past Spartanburg 56-54 when the teams last played back in February of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
