Basketball Recap: Ethan Bowen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy over West Branch

Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy lost against West Branch back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The game between the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy WolfPack and the West Branch Warriors didn't end well, with the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy WolfPack falling 72-55. While losing is never fun, the WolfPack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Warriors are ranked 172nd).

Several WolfPack players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Bowen, who went 8 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points. With that strong performance, Bowen is now averaging an impressive 16.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Foytack, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Owen Koleno, who posted 28 points and four steals for West Branch. The dominant performance gave Koleno a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan McGonigal, who put up 14 points.

Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for West Branch, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy will venture away from home to take on Upper Dauphin Area at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy is facing Upper Dauphin Area at the right time seeing as Upper Dauphin Area is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for West Branch, they will host Brookville at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th.
