Softball Preview: Jersey Panthers vs. Triad Knights
Jersey has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Triad Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Monday, Jersey came up short against Mascoutah and fell 19-16. Jersey has not had much luck with Mascoutah recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Emily Collins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-6 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleah Derrick, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Jersey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Triad waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1.
Jersey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Triad, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season.
