Softball Recap: Washburn Comes Up Short

Washburn lost to Apple Valley back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Millers came up short against the Eagles, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Millers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Washburn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Bretl, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Washburn has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Apple Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Washburn will square off against Totino-Grace at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Apple Valley, they will challenge Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Apple Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Kennedy has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
