Basketball Recap: Frontier Comes Up Short

Frontier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a hard 52-37 fall against the DeMotte Christian Knights. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the Knights are ranked 187th).

When it comes to explaining why Frontier lost, don't look at Ashlyn Minniear. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Minniear is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Madyson Mears, who posted nine points and seven boards.

DeMotte Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Bakker out in front who put up 19 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey DeVries, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Frontier's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for DeMotte Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Frontier will host Rossville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rossville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Frontier surely won't give up without a fight. As for DeMotte Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against North White at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
