Volleyball Recap: South Elgin's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

South Elgin saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of the Vernon Hills Cougars by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Storm's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The 2-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by two points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 22-25, 25-23.

Luka Jovanovic paced South Elgin's offense, picking up ten kills. Jovanovic got some help from Damian Hernandez and his 11 assists. Finally, Emilio Martinez kept South Elgin's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, South Elgin fell to 5-1. As for Vernon Hills, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, South Elgin and Vernon Hills will both be playing Loyola Academy the next time they take the court. The Storm will head out to face the Ramblers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
