Volleyball Recap: Southwest Falls Despite Big Games from Anikka Nelms and Alivia Cure

Southwest and Overton squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Southwest had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Roughriders have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Southwest had strong showings from Alivia Cure, who had 11 digs, and Anikka Nelms, who had 19 kills, 16 digs, two aces, and one block. Nelms has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 31 times she's played.

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 28-6. As for Overton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 27-5.

Southwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Overton, they will take on Shelton at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
