Volleyball Recap: Avery Palinkas and Tatum Hameed Secure Win for Nordonia

Nordonia not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 30th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on the Shaker Heights Red Raiders with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Raiders, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Nordonia took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-5, 25-8.

Nordonia was led to victory by Tatum Hameed and Avery Palinkas. Hameed had eight digs and four aces, while Palinkas had 17 assists and two aces. That's the most aces Hameed has posted over her last six matchups. Nina Koehnle also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Nordonia was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 14 consecutive contests.

Nordonia's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Shaker Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Nordonia will be taking part in a tournament against Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shaker Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
