Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Carlos Medlock Jr and Jaylohn Allen Lead Wayne Memorial to Victory

Wayne Memorial hadn't done well against Dearborn recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wayne Memorial Zebras came out on top against the Dearborn Pioneers by a score of 76-63. The Zebras pushed the score to 57-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pioneers cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Wayne Memorial to victory were Jaylohn Allen and Carlos Medlock Jr. Allen went 10 for 14 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds, while Medlock Jr went 11 of 17 on his way to 24 points and five boards. Medlock Jr's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abraham Rooks, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Wayne Memorial now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dearborn, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1.

Wayne Memorial didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-62 victory against Glenville on the 21st. Dearborn and Northville will round out the year against one another at at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th. Dearborn knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Northville likes a good challenge.
