Point Pleasant won the last time they faced Nitro and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Big Blacks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 2-1.

Point Pleasant had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-17, 15-7.

Lyndee Taylor paced Point Pleasant's offense, picking up five kills. Taylor got some help from Ava Riffle and her 11 assists. Riffle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Despite the defeat, Nitro saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zoe Hyatt had 15 digs and two aces. Hyatt has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynlee Ullum, who had 15 assists and five digs.

Point Pleasant's victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 16-17-1. As for Nitro, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-14.

Point Pleasant has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against St. Joseph Central on the 23rd. As for Nitro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Poca on the 21st.
