Basketball Recap: Sahuarita Comes Up Short

Sahuarita saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 60-53 to the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Sahuarita still got an impressive performance from Daniel Durazo, who posted 18 points along with five steals and three blocks. Those blocks were Durazo's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Armani Bennett, who had seven points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Justin Rushing was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points along with eight boards and three blocks for Bourgade Catholic. Rushing's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Frazier, who put up ten points and four steals.

Sahuarita's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bourgade Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sahuarita will welcome Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Bourgade Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kingman at 7:00 p.m.
