Basketball Recap: Mathews Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Mathews was the 64-58 winner over Brookfield when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mathews Mustangs took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brookfield Warriors.

Brookfield found their leader in freshman Blake Hammond, who went 8 for 17 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Hammond's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cody Davidson was another key player, putting up seven points and five steals.

Mathews' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Brookfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Mathews wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-38 win against Windham on the 21st. As for Brookfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-47 victory against Crestview on the 24th.
