Softball Recap: Capital Bruins vs. Bozeman Hawks

Capital took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). Everything went their way against the Bozeman Hawks as the Capital Bruins made off with a 16-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for Capital, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kathryn Emmert made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Emmert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kate Drynan was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Anna Cockhill was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

On Bozeman's side, Jacobi Coombs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with a home run.

Capital will head out on the road to face off against Belgrade at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bozeman, they will be playing at home against Billings West at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bozeman is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
