Gerald Kingbird jr leads Red Lake to victory over Fond du Lac Ojibwe O

Even though the Fond du Lac Ojibwe O Ogichida scored an imposing 79 points on Saturday, the Red Lake Warriors still came out on top. Red Lake took their matchup against Fond du Lac Ojibwe O 87-79. Given Red Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Fond du Lac Ojibwe O is ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Gerald Kingbird jr, who scored 26 points along with nine assists and six steals. Kingbird jr is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Jack Brown was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.

Red Lake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Fond du Lac Ojibwe O, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Red Lake will head out on the road to square off against Mahnomen/Waubun at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Mahnomen/Waubun: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Red Lake has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. Fond du Lac Ojibwe O will take on North Woods at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in North Woods' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
