Football Game Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Pearland Oilers + How To Watch

The Dickinson Gators will take on the Pearland Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after 11 games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Dickinson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 51-47 W over Atascocita. The score was all tied up 37-37 at the break, but the Gators were the better team in the second half.

A big part of Dickinson's victory came down to the chemistry between Lorenzo Aguirre and his top target Kaileb Peterson. Aguirre threw for 342 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt while Peterson gained 275 total yards. Those 342 passing yards gave Aguirre a new career-high.

Dickinson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Pearland on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Fort Bend Travis out of the water with a 59-27 final score. The result was nothing new for the Oilers, who have now won eight contests by 24 points or more so far this season.

Dickinson better keep an eye on Ja'Maurey Champion. He was instrumental in Pearland's win, rushing for 201 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Champion's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Pearland also got a significant boost from Royce Swan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 142 yards.

Pearland's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. In that department, DeMarco Jenkins was the leader with two sacks. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Ed Smith got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Dickinson's record now sits at 11-0. As for Pearland, their record is now an identical 11-0.

Dickinson couldn't quite finish off Pearland in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 and fell 16-14. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
