Baseball Game Preview: Sharyland Rattlers vs. McAllen Bulldogs

Sharyland has gone 7-2 against McAllen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Sharyland Rattlers will look to defend their home field against the McAllen Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Sharyland will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Sharyland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 11-5 margin over Economedes on Saturday. Considering the Rattlers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Sharyland got a great performance from Emilio Villarreal as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Villarreal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Edgar Quintanilla and Fabrizio Salinas did most of the damage at the plate: Quintanilla scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2, while Salinas got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Salinas has posted over his last 14 matchups. Another player making a difference was Luis Balderas, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, in Saturday's Canine Competition, McAllen didn't have enough. They lost 17-4 to La Joya on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Coyotes: they've now lost three in a row.

McAllen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fernie Olivarez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Sharyland's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for McAllen, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
