Preview: James F. Byrnes Rebels vs. Riverside Warriors
The James F. Byrnes Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Riverside Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
After a string of three wins, James F. Byrnes' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greer. While losing is never fun, James F. Byrnes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Greer is ranked seventh).
Despite the loss, James F. Byrnes got a solid performance out of Will Fowler, who scored 22 points. Fowler scored a full 37.9% of James F. Byrnes' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kayzzin McDowell, who scored 4 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Riverside put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Mauldin by a score of 68-57.
Their wins bumped James F. Byrnes to 3-1 and Greer to 6-0.
James F. Byrnes was able to grind out a solid win over Riverside in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 60-49. Does James F. Byrnes have another victory up their sleeve, or will Riverside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
