Football Recap: Byers Bulldogs vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles
Byers and Dayspring Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Byers had to settle for second. They lost 33-8 to the Eagles. The Bulldogs were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the six matchups prior), but the Eagles' defense proved too tough.
Despite the loss, Byers still got an impressive performance from George Wyatt Earl, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Dayspring Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hawkins Flanagan, who rushed for 92 yards and one score, and also threw for 36 yards and a pair of TDs. Flanagan also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles and defending one pass. Owen Crust was in the mix too, providing Dayspring Christian Academy with two touchdowns.
