Basketball Recap: San Isidro Comes Up Short

San Isidro lost against George West back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The San Isidro Tigers took a 58-40 bruising from the George West Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1546th, while the Longhorns are ranked 735th).

Tristen Blevins was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds for George West. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Blevins has scored at least a third of George West's points. Nathan Cantu was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points and six assists.

San Isidro has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for George West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

San Isidro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-36 win against Three Rivers on the 13th. As for George West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-39 victory against Natalia on the 12th.
