Basketball Recap: Andre Boone Jr and James Hodrick Jr Secure Win for UIC College Prep

UIC College Prep was handed a 38-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past the Bulls College Prep Bulls 61-59. For the Firecats, this counts as revenge for the 56-48 victory the Bulls walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Leading UIC College Prep to victory were James Hodrick Jr and Andre Boone Jr. Hodrick Jr shot 50% from the field on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds, while Boone Jr went 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points along with six assists and six boards. Boone Jr continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TerMari Matthews, who posted four points and ten boards.

UIC College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

UIC College Prep now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bulls College Prep, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. UIC College Prep will square off against Comer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bulls College Prep, they will head out to face off against St. Francis at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
