Volleyball Recap: Addison Komitau and Callie Swanson Secure Win for Mt. Vernon

Mt. Vernon won the last time they faced Lakewood and things went their way on Thursday too. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 19-25, 25-17.

Leading Mt. Vernon to victory were Callie Swanson and Addison Komitau. Swanson had 17 assists and eight digs, while Komitau had six digs and two aces. What's more, Komitau racked up 26 assists, the most she's had since back in September. Addi Minder also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Mt. Vernon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Mt. Vernon's win ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14. As for Lakewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Mt. Vernon will challenge Hayes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakewood, they will take on Bishop Ready at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
