Baseball Recap: Richwood Takes a Loss

Richwood lost against Midland Trail back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lumberjacks came up short against the Patriots, falling 23-11.

Parker Giles was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Richwood's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Giles was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Riley Crites made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Owen Wayne was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Richwood now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Midland Trail, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richwood will take on Highland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Midland Trail, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
